2005年12月20日，湖人坐镇主场迎战小牛。科比前三节宛如天神附体，他出战32分53秒，31投18中，轰下恐怖的62分。

而当第三节结束时，小牛全队也才得到61分，还不如科比一人的得分。三节战罢湖人95-61打花比赛，全场结束时的比分为112-90。

赛后被问到为何第四节不出场拿下70分时，科比表示：“当球队真正需要我这么做的时候，我会做到的。”
